Biography

Chelsea J, Blues Princess was a semi-finalist on the TV hit,'Australian Idol' 'The Top 40' last year.
And appeared in the last 11 in channel 7's doco-soap 'Popstars' in Sydney '99 for 'Bardot'.
She was the Winner of the 'Australasian Singing Championships' in Perth and then in Surfers Paradise in '97, and won a spot on the T.V. show 'Fast track to Fame' in Beverley Hills 'PlanetHollywood Studios' which has an International audience of over 40 million viewers.
With 15 years of training in vocals, drama, jazz ballet, tap, piano, drum kit and harmonica, Chelsea is backed by strong teachings from the industry.
Trained at the W.A. Academy of Dance and Drama for 14 years and then went on to do Musical Theatre at the W.A. Academy of Performing Arts, Edith Cowan University in 1995. She received a Certificate in Musical Theatre, with two credits for music and aural skills. 
Studied 'The Suzuki Method' for Piano to Grade 6 and the Theory of Music Grade 6, Plus Jazz Piano.
Cast in the Movie 'Dingo' starring Miles Davies, Chelsea J played, the lead female child role 'Jane' in 1989.
After Uni, she left her full time job at Portman Mining as a receptionist and became lead singer/keyboard player in the 'Maximum Groove Band' in 1996, which had a residency in Taipei, Taiwan at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Living in Singapore in 1999, she performed in a duo called 'Shimmer', which played at the 'Singapore National Family Day' and other big live arena shows and a residency at 'The Australian Stop Over Pub'.
She wrote the theme song for the 'Singapore Tourism Awards', 'Reaching for the Stars'.

 

 

She has performed in many musicals, concerts (ie: 'The World Swimming Championships' in 1998), Telethons, Festivals (such as the Bridgetown Blues Festival), Plays, T.V. Commercials, jingles for T.V. and radio and floorshows.
She got first prize at the Kulcha Club's Songwriting Competition in Perth in 1998.
Chelsea J was a T.V. host and performer on the TV show for Channel 31 called 'Wax Lyrical', created by 'The Australian Songwriters Association' in 1999.
At High School (Saint Mary's Anglican Girls' School) she won a Certificate in the 'Quest for Excellence' in the Top Ten Performing Arts section for W.A. for one of her songs she wrote for the musical 'Roger Burnout', she also had a scholarship there to learn the drums and percussion.
And in 1989 She played her song she wrote 'We had the friendship' on grand piano with the school choirand a 40 piece mandolin orchestra at a Cathedral in Perth. 

Musical Theatre Comedy for kids in the Productions 'Inspector Pickles Makes a Fresh Start" and Inspector Pickles Makes the Right Choice'. Perth 2000 - 2004.
Winner of the 2001 96fm SGIO $5000 Minute of Fame Competition, performed live at the Western Derby.Opened the Perth 'Glory' season at Joondalup Arena.
In top 10 for Australian Songwriters Association National Song Contest 2000 in Coffee House category for her song 'Its so beautiful'. And just recently Chelsea was invited to sing with James Morrison at the 'Solomon Masters Surfing Competitions' in Margaret River at the Evans & Tate Winery.
Also was the headlining act at Ellenbrooks 'Fusion Fiesta of Fire and Sky'. Wrote song 'Peace' for World Peace day. 
Judged the 'Search for a Star' Talent Quest at Riverton Forum Centre in Perth 2004.
Currently age 26 Teaching Singing and piano, and touring schools with Inspirational Speeches and Songs.
Also doing solo gigs - piano and voice all round Australia.And working on her original songs to release her album either thru a label or a publishing deal.
